This is the first lookout from the crater rim. Well above the normal cloud cover. View into the crater is to the east direction on the left of frame to south to the right of frame and the cinder cone area (small volcanoes inside the main crater) The
last image 16 images are the turn out area is above the Kalahaku
area, near the summit and the House of the Sun, facing south. No view
into crater from roadbed except from high elevation just before the
summit visitor center. Also an endangered bird habitat so they are
sensitive to non impacted areas and severely limit off trail staging
areas. AMAZING vistas and visually spectacular location. There
are trails that go into the crater form the rim and from Sliding
sands trail. Most images shot with a 8mm focal length (approx a 38mm
lens on a 35mm camera) Sony DSC-P9 digital camera. |
